JAVA : Evolution and history of java

in the section i will tell you about Java

First I am just introducing java, what is java, why it is required, why sun microsystem developed it...etc.

INTRODUCTION:-

    "Java is a high level third generation programming language.It was invented by Scientist James Gosling in Sun Microsystem. Java was developed to achieve Platform In-dependency for developing Internet based Application. Sun Microsystem and James Gosling wanted to develop a language which can be executed in any operating system i.e. a programmer have to write the code just once and it can be compiled anywhere in the world. This concept is called platform in-dependency i.e. Write Once Run Anywhere(WORA).Java runs on a variety of platforms, such as Windows, Mac OS, and the various versions of UNIX.

HISTORY:-

  Initially Java was known as Oak. It was first released by James Gosling in 1991, but it contains quite a few drawbacks then it was redeveloped and released again in 1996 with a new name called JAVA and the version was 1.0. Later in 2010 Oracle corporation bought the java and then they released the 1.7 and 1.8 versions of java.

WHY JAVA ?

Its Invented to Achieve Platform In dependency for developing Internet based business Application.
well, using java we can develop both Stand alone & Internet application.

Platform:-

 Any hardware or software environment in which a program runs, is known as a platform. Since Java has its own run time environment (JRE) and API, it is called platform.
